
Account Representative
The National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies – Insurance Agency has an opening for an Account Representative in the Indianapolis, IN office. This role combines sales, account management, and customer service, focusing on driving new business growth, maintaining strong customer relationships, and ensuring seamless policy renewals.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:
Sales & Business Development
- Proactively generate and close new business opportunities through outreach, networking, and inbound inquiries.
- Identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities to ensure customers have adequate coverage.
- Assist prospective customers with quotes, policy selection, and application completion.
- Track and report new business activity, pipeline progress, and sales results.
- Build and cultivate relationships with policyholders, insurance companies, industry key contacts, agents, and brokers to bring additional business to the agency.
- Proactively incorporate referral generation into prospecting processes.
- Manage a portfolio of existing customers, ensuring timely and compliant policy renewals.
- Collaborate with underwriting teams to assess risk, review coverage options, and ensure proper placement.
- Provide policy support, including endorsements, mid-term adjustments, and coverage modifications.
- Handle billing inquiries, commission splits, and premium payments.
- Maintain detailed records and documentation in the agency’s policy management system.
Account Management & Renewals
- Proactively incorporate referral generation into prospecting processes.
- Manage a portfolio of existing customers, ensuring timely and compliant policy renewals.

Customer Service & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with state-specific surplus lines tax filings, licensing, and regulatory requirements.
- Work with underwriting and finance teams to process payments, commissions, and policy documentation.
- Investigate and resolve accounting and billing issues.
- Assist customers with the initial claims process, providing guidance on next steps.
- Respond promptly to customer and broker inquiries, including quotes, coverage questions, and policy reviews.
- Work closely with the administrative and finance teams to process payments, commissions, and policy documentation.
Additional Responsibilities
- Investigate and resolve accounting issues.
- Maintain a follow-up system to ensure timely customer communications.
- Assist with surplus lines filings as needed.
- Participate in sales, marketing, and customer relationship events as assigned.
Qualifications include:
- Active Indiana P&C license.
- Indiana Surplus Lines License or the ability to obtain quickly.
- Experience in insurance sales, account management, and customer service.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook) and agency management systems.
- College Degree or at least one insurance designation reflecting insurance classes of an intermediate level of study in Property & Casualty or Professional Liability preferred.
- Ability to perform activities at trade and exhibit shows including assembly of display booth as needed or assigned, etc. This will include standing for long periods of time.
- Ability to successfully pass a criminal background and MVR check.
