Account Sales Representative

The National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies – Insurance Agency has an opening for an Account Sales Representative in the Indianapolis, IN office. The role is hybrid, with three days in the office and two with the option to work from home. This role will combine sales, account management, and customer service, focusing on driving new business growth, maintaining strong customer relationships, and ensuring seamless policy renewals. On the job training will be provided; candidates with experience in one or more of the three identified areas preferred. 

 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:

Sales & Business Development

  • Identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities to ensure customers have adequate coverage.
  • Assist prospective customers with quotes, policy selection, and application completion.
  • Build and cultivate relationships with policyholders, insurance companies, industry key contacts, agents, and brokers to bring additional business to the agency.
  • Track and report new business activity, pipeline progress, and sales results.
  • Proactively generate and close new business opportunities through outreach, networking, referral generation, and inbound inquiries.  No cold calling.


Account Management & Renewals

  • Manage a portfolio of existing customers, ensuring timely and compliant policy renewals.
  • Collaborate with underwriting teams to assess risk, review coverage options, and ensure proper placement.
  • Provide policy support, including endorsements, mid-term reviews, and coverage modifications.
  • Handle billing inquiries, commission splits, and premium payments.
  • Maintain detailed records and documentation in the agency’s policy management system.

Customer Service & Regulatory Compliance

  • Respond promptly to customer and broker inquiries, including quotes, coverage questions, and policy reviews.
  • Work closely with the administrative, underwriting, and finance teams to process payments, commissions, and policy documentation.
  • Investigate and resolve accounting and billing issues.
  • Ensure compliance with state-specific tax filings, licensing, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist customers with the initial claims process, providing guidance on next steps.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain a follow-up system to ensure timely customer communications.
  • Occasionally participate in sales, marketing, and customer relationship events.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications include:

  • Experience in sales, account management, or customer service.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook) and agency management systems.
  • Ability to travel occasionally and perform activities at trade & exhibit shows.
  • Active Indiana P&C license or the ability to obtain quickly. (NAMIC will cover costs associated with education and obtaining a license.)
  • Indiana Surplus Lines license or the ability to obtain within the first year. (NAMIC will cover costs associated with education and obtaining a license.)
  • Knowledge of professional liability insurance preferred; agency will provide training.
  • College degree preferred, high school diploma required.
  • Ability to successfully pass a criminal background and MVR check.
