The National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) is searching for an experienced candidate for our Director of Accounting position in our Finance department. This position will provide senior staff level accounting services to support financial operations/ management of NAMIC and multiple affiliate entities. Work closely with AVP-Finance and AVP-Accounting to produce financial statements and reports.

Essential functions of the position include:

• Oversee the association operations and provide support to client requests.
• Train and mentor Accountant II. 
• Maintains general ledger and reconciles accounts for assigned entities.
• Prepares monthly financial statements for association clients and other assigned entities.
• Compiles data for annual audits and tax filings.
• Completes lobbying and CFR reports.
• Assists with budgeting process for association clients.
• Maintains Positive Pay records.
• Creates variance analyses and presents financials at board meetings for assigned entities.
• Builds and maintains positive work relationships with management, staff members, and external contacts.
• Arrives to work on time and maintains a positive attendance record.
• Performs any other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications include:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred.
• 8+ years of relevant work experience preferred.
• Previous experience with multiple company accounting required.
• Understanding of complete accounting cycle.
• Ability to successfully pass a criminal background and MVR check.
